WIRE-Net is searching for its next President and Executive Director to lead the organization, manage its staff of 12, including 3 direct reports (Workforce Development, Manufacturing Services, Finance and Operations), and mobilize the board to implement its 2020 Strategic Plan.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10 years progressively responsible experience in organization management, program development, and staff leadership
  • 3 years progressively responsible experience in the field of economic development
  • Experience in program development and with management of program leaders including manufacturing programs (e.g., business retention, growth coaching, etc.), and workforce development (e.g., adult and youth apprenticeship, career coaching for youth, etc.). Knowledge of emerging manufacturing technologies is a plus
  • Successful fund-raising experience (foundation, membership, and annual fund), and in raising unrestricted revenue
  • Leadership development experience, working with boards of directors, donors, public-private sector partners, and supervising and developing staff
  • Solid oral and written communication skills, including social media and media relations
  • Strong fiscal management and strategic planning skills

The ideal candidate, in addition, will:

  • Have, or be able to quickly establish, credibility with manufacturing stakeholders and members
  • Know about and understand Northeast Ohio's economic development eco-system with an eye towards its manufacturing sector
  • Be or be able to establish self as a thought leader in the field
  • Be a motivator of staff, board, and key stakeholders
  • Be able to work with funders and other business leaders
  • Be an advocate at the local, state, and national level – for WIRE-Net's vision and 2020 Strategic plan

OVERVIEW

The Youth Workforce Development Coordinator will deliver curriculum and plan activities related to the pre-apprenticeship program and will serve as a liaison between businesses, education, community partners, and parents to successfully achieve program goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate and organize pre-apprenticeship activities with high school partners including delivering career coaching curriculum, organizing plant tours and job shadows, and recruiting and placing interns
  • Design workshops, prepare training materials, and perform presentations for middle and high school youth and adults
  • Recruit program participants by working with school partners
  • Collaborate with school administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, and community partners to further develop and implement work-based learning activities
  • Submit timely reports and meeting minutes in accordance with WIRE-Net and grant requirements
  • Assist with planning and execution of MFG Summer Camp
  • Engage WIRE-Net members and affiliates with work-based learning activities
  • Recruit new WIRE-Net members and manage assigned member accounts to assess satisfaction with membership and determine additional needs for service
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • 2+ years' experience working with youth, parents and other partners
  • 1+ years' experience with job placement and career development
  • 1+ years' experience in a manufacturing or trade related environment

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required; or 5+ years' related experience

  • Ability to engage and work with WIRE-Net members and affiliates to identify and address employability and retention related challenges for youth
  • Proficiency with MSOffice and social media software applications

  • Position is based at WIRE-Net's administrative offices
  • Reliable transportation required
